For those who haven't picked up a racket before - children will improve their balance, agility and co-ordination through fun games while learning how to play the sport we love. At this stage it’s not about winning or losing, it’s getting to grips with the basics.
Children start to practise overarm serves, volleys and learn how to rally, whilst developing their co-ordination, balance, speed and agility. Still with soft balls and small courts they'll be introduced to relaxed competition too.
Children are converted into more than just one-shot wonders. Time to throw in some tactics, problem-solving and guides to sportsmanship and leadership. They'll know all of the rules and will be serving and returning.

In the new year we are introducing Friday Fri-Yay, a NEW programme which teaches tennis solely through games! Yes you read it right, GAMES!
Our Fri-Yay classes are full of our favourite tennis games where they will pick up tennis skills without even knowing it! We all know children learn well through play.
Fri-Yay is for EVERY child regardless of their age or experience! The games we play cater for different abilities in every session.
Competition players and beginners join together, for our Fri-YAY sessions!
All of our coaching will be working towards players playing better matches! It is our ambition to teach junior players the skills so that they become life long club members! We will work to our junior curriculum which applies to every age but with varying difficulty.
In this stage, we will work on the phases of play (rally, attack, defend) within relevant tactical themes that players will experience in matches. Our goal is to develop players who are good from the back and front of the court, and can serve and return. They will learn how to behave, interact appropriately and have good tennis etiquette.
The fundamentals are the same no matter what the stage!
This wheel shows the fundamental skills that children will learn in their tennis journey, at what ever the stage.
