To help you keep track of your child’s progress, we are excited to announce that we are launching our very own Tennis Together curriculum!
This curriculum will enable us to reward children for skills that they have mastered, as well as motivate them with the skills that they are working towards.
We have followed the LTA Youth curriculum which groups children into the following stages - Blue, Red, Orange, Green and Yellow - based on age and experience. If you’d like to find out more, follow the link here.
Within each stage, we have carefully identified key competencies that they need to achieve to master each the sub-stage (see below). For our mini players (under 11's), these competencies are grouped into serve, rally and score. The 3-fundamental skills they will need to play the game of tennis.
Once they have achieved a Blue Fish for example, they will be awarded a certificate, and be working towards the Blue Dolphin stage.
There will be a 'curriculum week' at regular intervals during the term, where children will get the chance to earn their certificates.
Learn to change the rhythm of the match. by bringing your opponent inside the court, then pushing them back using the X pattern. Play around with this using different depths, angles and spins.
Fed up of getting stuck in the cross court battle? Learn how and when to change direction and keep forcing your opponent to be athletic!
Get used to hitting with top spin and slice to give more variety in your game. Not only does this mix up the speed of the game, but you may find you can exploit your opponents weaknesses. We will use different spins in x-pattern and changing direction too.
